Month: December 2015

New Beginner Class for 2016

We currently run beginner classes from 6.30-7.30pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays but we are getting pretty busy on these nights, so we are extending our beginner classes to include a Monday night from 6.30pm.  You can still come along on any night and you’ll receive the warmest of welcomes and feel well looked after.

We supply all the equipment you will need, but you will need to turn up wearing tracksuit bottoms or similar, a t-shirt and flat indoor shoes.

Your first session is free and if you like us and want to become a member, we offer some incredibly low membership fees.  For example, £20 a month for two sessions a week!

The new beginner class starts on Monday 11th January 2016, 6.30pm.

Hit Like a Girl

Salle Ossian will shortly be launching it’s “Hit Like a Girl” programme around Perthshire Schools.  Commonwealth Gold medallists Sarah-Jane Hampson and Jess Corby will be visiting schools to introduce girls and boys to the Olympic sport of fencing.

Salle Ossian Head Coach, Prof. Phil Carson says, “Fencing is the fastest of the Olympic sports and when you get hit by these women athletes – you stay hit!  Fencing teaches a high level of physical literacy, control and balance and is ideal for both boys and girls to learn together.  But it is fundamentally a fight, you get to hit each other a lot”.

Working together with Perth and Kinross Council, Perthshire Schools and Live Active teams around the county, our Commonwealth Champions will be taking their skills, athleticism and enthusiasm to get kids active and participating in this great sport.

Salle Ossian are also running introductory courses in Perth, beginning Monday 11th January 2016.
